Brannigan is a smart little puppy who loves to please. He plays well with other dogs and is always interested in what the people are up to, too. He came to us with sarcoptic mange affecting mostly his ears and back legs. After treatment he is completely healthy and his fur has grown back in just as soft and shiny as can be. Brannigan is crate trained and working on his housebreaking. He sleeps through the night and is an all-around good boy. Brannigan would love a family or person to call his own! He’s going to be a medium sized dog when he’s done growing (we’re guessing about 40lbs).

Leela is a doll!! She has had a few litters in the past and (like any good mama) is very good-natured and tolerant of other dogs, especially puppies chewing on her and being generally rude (even when they outweigh her!). Leela also likes to wrestle with other dogs in the house, as well as cuddle up with them during quiet times. She is really affectionate and gentle with people, and doesn’t need anything more than a gentle ‘No’ if she oversteps her bounds. Leela is crate trained and housebroken and has only had one accident in the house (and that was on her first day, so it doesn’t really count!). She is about 14lbs, so small enough to fit in your lap (which she would love!).  She attaches easily to people and would make an excellent companion to almost any household.

Ladybug is a gentle little chihuahua who was surrendered to animal control. The people who surrendered her said that they were caring for the dog for the owners, but the owners never came back for her. She has the cutest little underbite and is a really personable, expressive dog. She likes to dance for treats and attention, and loves to play with people.  She lived with a woman previously, but also loooves foster ‘dad.’ She likes to be carried and toted around like any self-respecting chihuahua Ladybug has been spayed and is ready for adoption now!

Conan and Lucy are two redheaded comedians! Conan is the bigger of the two and very sweet and affectionate. He has a very pretty lab-like face and an easy-going demeanor. He is slightly more confident than his sister, but both of them are great with other dogs and people, too. Conan will probably be about the size of a Lab when full grown. Like most puppies, Conan and Lucy are blank slates, ready for all the proper training and socialization needed to turn them into wonderful canine citizens.

Sugar is an energetic 2-year-old mix who loves walks in the woods, trips to the dog park, and romping with a playmate.  She is excited about people, and is quickly learning how to be part of a household.  Sugar was a stray who was brought into Animal Control.  She was a favorite around the pound because of her love for people.  She was very underweight but has reached a healthy weight quickly. She has become crate trained, learned to walk on a leash, how to use a doggie door, and is doing well with housebreaking.  She needs other dogs to play with and the ability to romp.  She has VERY attractive markings and is eager to find someone to love forever!  Microchipped, spayed, HW negative, vaccinated, crate trained, etc.

Luna is an absolutely gorgeous blue pitbull with an attitude that you will fall in love with. She is completely housetrained and crate trained, knows sit and “high five”, and is working on other commands. This pretty girl is constantly wagging her tail and loves to snuggle with you under the covers! She hasn’t met a dog or a human that she hasn’t loved and she does great with children. Luna is a very social little girl so she needs to be placed in a home that has another dog. For exercise, Luna loves to swim and hike off leash. She has a very high ball drive, however tends to enjoy playing “keep away” before she finally decides to give the ball back to you. Inside, Luna is very calm and loves to settle down with a bone next to her foster doggie sister-Luna is great about sharing her toys with her canine friends. Luna is extremely loyal, constantly focused on you, and becomes attached to people very quickly. She would make a great companion for any family! Luna would do best in a medium-energy home, with someone able to give her at least an hour of good exercise daily. McKinley is a handsome dog! He has a brown coat with white socks, and white on his chest, muzzle and tail. He has many physical features of a spitz type of dog, and is also a ‘talker’ when excited. McKinley is crate trained and is well-mannered in the house. He does well with other dogs and likes to flirt with the ladies He is an athletic dog who likes to play and run. McK. is full grown and about 45lbs- though he could gain a pound or two, his frame will probably remain slender.

Paddington is a 6 month old big baby.  He is some sort of a Shepherd mix but really just looks like a teddy bear.  He is crate trained and potty trained.  Paddington loves playing and throwing around his toys, but is quite the lazy cuddle bug, too.  He especially enjoys long walks in the park.  Paddington has yet to meet a person or dog he didn’t like! He would be great with kids and would do well with another canine companion (although not necessary).  If you can’t resist this cute face, fill out an application for Paddington!

Grant came to us from an outlying animal control facility. He is a gorgeous adult male retriever mix, built like a lab but with a wavy coat. Also like labs, Grant LOVES to play fetch. He’s quite good at dropping the ball at your feet and sitting politely for another throw, too. Grant is not yet available for adoption because of a few medical conditions that we’re taking care of. He came to us heartworm positive, and is receiving the necessary (but expensive!) treatment to get him healthy again. In addition, Grant’s eyelids roll inwards, causing irritation and discomfort to his eyes. It’s better on some days than others, but he will get this taken care of before adopted so he can feel 100% perfect! If you’re interested in Grant, you’re more than welcome to apply for him, but he will be available for adoption around April, after he’s all vetted!

Meet Akira, our prick-eared princess! Akira gets along great with people of all ages and loves other dogs! She is both crate-trained and house-trained. At home, you will often find her sprawled out on a comfy bed with a squeaky toy and is always ready to play. Meet Willow! We believe that Willow is around a year and a half old. Willow had a litter of babies about 3 months ago, but now Willow is the only one left and she finally has her girlish figure back! Willow loves to run and play with all her doggy friends, but also loves relaxing in her bed with a bone (or 5 bones- she’s a toy hoarder!). Willow is very affectionate and loves giving kisses. She is currently learning not to jump, but has already mastered “sit”, “wait”, “crate” and potty training. She loves relaxing in her crate and normally sleeps there during the night and when her foster parents are not home. Willow has never shown a sign of aggression to a human or towards another dog. If you want a very athletic doggy friend to join your family, ask to meet Willow!

COURTESY POST.  Bandit is staying with his family for the time being since we are completely overloaded with kittens!  Bandit is a 6 year old declawed male Himilayan (possibly Ragdoll) mix.  He is super sweet and loves to cuddle.  We aren’t sure how he gets along with other animals, but we will find out soon as he will be coming to an adoption event at the Macon Petsmart this Sunday (7/24/11) if you’d like to meet him!  Bandit is a laid-back, quiet guy and would prefer a quieter home with no small children – the child in his current home scares him.  He bonds pretty quickly to his humans, and loves to sit next to you and be petted while watching TV.  He is declawed, so he needs an INSIDE ONLY home.  Email rmorris@netcommander.com for more info.

You can visit the cats during store hours. Adoptions are held Monday through Friday from 6-7pm, and on weekends from 11-4.

Scooterbug was a 3 week old kitten when I first took him in to rescue. He was bottle fed and spoiled completely rotten, and was adopted at 10 weeks of age. Unfortunately, his adopter had to return him due to circumstances (and no fault of his own). He has adjusted remarkably well for an adult cat returned after two years. He gets along great with other cats, dogs and kids. Scoot is just the best kind of cat – loving and sweet, a bit playful, and goes with the flow in the household. He would do best with another cat or dog (or two or three!) in the household, but could be an only cat if necessary. He likes to sleep in the bed with you, and be careful not to leave change or small items laying around that you might need – he has a habit of picking them up and hiding them under the kitchen rug!
Scooter would prefer to be an inside-only cat. He weighs 12 1/2 lbs.

• Gender: Female

Jasmine is a sweet lionhead (mix?) bun, though she is a bit shy. She would prefer an adult home, or a home with older children. She likes to get to know you before there’s too much pettin’ and lovin’ going on, so a patient owner is a must. Once she trusts you, though, she’s lots of fun! She’s used to being with another bun, but she isn’t bonded so could be a single bun or possibly a companion for another bun. She is litter trained, too! 

 Our rabbits are fostered inside, are fed a high quality pellet plus lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and are introduced to litter training. Adults are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Since babies must be six months old to be spayed or neutered, they may be adopted prior to their surgery, but adopters will be required to sign a spay/neuter agreement and have the surgery done when they are no older than 7 months old. The adoption fee for rabbits is $45.00, which covers the surgery.

Meet Dennis Hopper! He is a wonderful bun. He is used to being with another bunny, but isn’t bonded with her, so he can be adopted as a companion or as the sole bun. He’s young and fun and does binkies. He puts up with being held, though he’d rather run around and play. He’s pretty big, so he needs a large cage or area to play in. Link is a sweetheart! He is just over a year and such a cutie. His ears are set a bit off-center, which is quite endearing.  Link has the nickname ‘Leggy Linky.’ He’s about 50lbs full grown. Link is a very sweet, affectionate boy who loves people and will give anyone a big tail wag and a kiss, if allowed. He also loves his crate and will march right into his like a good boy any time of day. Link doesn’t bark much at all, and plays well with people and other dogs. He has an outgoing, confident temperament- not much worries this li’l man. The Linkster would love a permanent home of his own and is an easy boy to love.

Cassidy is one of a litter of eight. His mom is a mahogany colored lab mix and it looks like his dad imight be a black lab. He is a playful pup and always ready for a cuddle. He will be available for adoption on 5/19.

• Name: Blaine
• Age: 2.5 Years (as of May ’11)
• Breed: DSH
• Gender: Male

Blaine is about two and a half years old and is a very affectionate, good natured cat. He adores people, other cats and dogs and loves kids. He takes great care of the foster kittens in his foster home, giving them baths and playing with them. He always seems to have his arms wrapped around another cat. he also adores people and likes to sleep on his foster mom’s chest – which can sometimes be a problem because he’s a little bit heavy! Blaine has had a cold since he was a kitten that he can’t seem to shake. We think he might be able to clear up if he were in a home where there wasn’t another cronicly ill cat (his foster mom’s cat Singlewide also has a cold nearly all the time). If you’re willing to help get this sweet boy well, we would provide medicine and vitamins, which in addition to a fresh environment will likely help him get rid of this cold. Mohawk is about 3 months old (July 2011). He is neutered, UTD on shots, and gets along well with dogs and cats. He is named for the white fur down his back that reminds us of a Mohawk. Apply today for this cute kitten!

• Name: Wilson
• Age: 3 years
• Breed: Domestic shorthair mix
• Gender: Male

Wilson is a very odd cat. His mom sadly had to give him up due to severe illness, and he’s still sad about that. Wilson talks a LOT – you never have to worry about whether there’s food in the cat bow or not, because if there ain’t, Wilson will definitely let you know! He is a little shy around people, but we think he would do a lot better in a quieter home where there aren’t so many other cats around. He will co-exist with other cats, but he doesn’t like to hang out with them. Only one cat has ever managed to make friends with Wilson, and that is Palmer (check out this special cat’s bio as well!). Wilson would rather just kind of hang around than mingle. He is a worry wart, and will pull his hair out when he gets stressed. At one point he was nearly hairless from the top of his belly to the tip of his tail! He also has a flea allergy, so he has to have his flea treatment right on time every month or he will get sores. I know this is a lot to ask of a new home, but Wilson deserves a chance.

Meet Ugly Betty, affectionately named that because of her, um, “different” appearance. She’s a tortie, but is mostly black with orange randomly sprinkled in. Unfortunately, it isn’t really her appearance that keeps her from getting adopted. Though she’s been in foster care and had constant contact with people since she was three weeks old, she is still very skittish around people, and will only allow you to pet her once you are “approved”, and then only fleetingly. It was a year before she started sleeping on the bed with her foster parents, and she does get more affectionate when the house is dark and quiet. Now she jumps on the bed and head-butts her foster mom nearly every night. She is also known as “Wrap-Around” Betty, because when she rubs against you, she throws her whole body into it and you often have a tail in your face.

We know Betty isn’t the most adoptable cat, but she really deserves a chance to have a home of her own, where there aren’t so many other foster cats and so much change going on around her. Aspen was found in the woods at 4 weeks old, scrawny and near death, with a raging eye infection. We were able to bring her back to health with lots of love and good food, but her right eye will always be smaller and have very limited vision. There’s no reason to remove the eye, so it’s just a physical trait she will always have. It doesn’t bother her one little bit though! She is very spunky and loves to play. She adores other cats, dogs and kids, and would be great in just about any home that has some time each day to play with her – she loves the laser light!

Lana is a very sweet 8 year old cat. She doesn’t really like other cats, but she will co-exist with them. She doesn’t mind dogs, either. She is an extremely affectionate cat. When I first brought her home, I showed her the litterbox, food and water, and went to lay down because it had been a long day. I was shocked when, 3 minutes later, she jumped on the bed and snuggled with me. I had just met her, and she had lived for several years with her previous owner, yet she adjusted to life in a new home almost immediately.

Helena is a very sweet cat. She’s about 1 1/2 years old and is very laid back. She is okay with living with other cats and dogs, though she isn’t thrilled with them.
