Meet Akira, our prick-eared princess! Akira gets along great with people of all ages and loves other dogs! She is both crate-trained and house-trained. At home, you will often find her sprawled out on a comfy bed with a squeaky toy and is always ready to play. She is the quintessential family dog and would really love her own family to celebrate the holidays with. If she sounds like your kind of gal, don’t hesitate to put her name on our application!

Molly came to the rescue group heavily pregnant. A kind family took her in and whelped the puppies. Puppies have been adopted, and now miss Molly is ready for her own home, too!
We’re thinking Molly is a mixture of a few breeds. Some say Beagle mix, some see a bit of Jack Russell in her, and most agree that she looks like a miniature Labrador! Molly does have that perpetual puppy-face, and is the perfect size for just about any home. She weighs just over thirty pounds but is a little bit chubby at the moment and could lose a few of those to get back to a healthier weight.
Molly loves playing with other dogs, rarely ever barks, and is great in her crate. She is very submissive, gentle and adored people of all ages, too.

Johnny was originally adopted out as a puppy but returned to cofas over a year later through no fault of his own. Johnny is such a sweetheart. He’s a gentle soul who attaches fairly quickly to his people. He also does very well with other dogs and can play or just hang out with anyone at his foster home. Johnny is only about 40 lbs with a low maintenance coat. He is well behaved, hardly barks, and requires the gentlest of corrections if he ever forgets his manners. He’s crate trained and housebroken and very easy to love! Johnny has been okay with some cats he meets, but others interest him too much (likewise with chickens). Dobby is an 11 month old Catahoula, who was found starving to death, and didn’t even have the strength to hold up his ears or tail for several weeks. It’s been two months since then, and now he’s a healthy, playful boy, although he has a little trouble with his right foreleg, due to elbow displaysia. With rest and joint supplements, he’s doing much better, but his new owners will have to be careful and monitor it. He will need to take Glyco-Flex Supplements daily to help with his joint pain. Surgery wont be necessary as long as he stays on supplements. He has been living on a dairy farm for the past two months, with another dog, who he gets along great with. He’s great with cows, horses, loves all other dogs, and is OK with inside cats. He knows his name and comes to a whistle. He knows sit and down and would love to make you happy forever. Also, he would enjoy a brother or sister to play with. If you’ve been searching for an adorable catahoula then Dobby is perfect. Dakota is a gorgeous gal! She has the face and build of a Great Pyrenees, but on a smaller scale. Dakota is very sweet and loves to run and play. She’s a fairly straight-forward, big ol’ puppy- even though she’s full grown, she still has some learning to do. Dakota shows interest in toys and will easily learn the joys of fetch- which is a great way to interact with (and tire out!) a young dog like Dakota. She likes other dogs, and enjoys playing with them as well as with people. She would do well in a home with other dogs, or as an only dog.

Bungee is your typical playful puppy with a happy-go-lucky attitude. This handsome little boy is constantly wagging his tail and waiting for a chance to give kisses. He loves playing with his foster sister Kit and any other friend he meets at the dog park. Bungee’s foster home recently adopted a kitten, which he quickly fell in love with. For being such a young pup, Bungee understood immediately that he needed to be very gentle with the little kitten-it is so cute watching them play together! He is great on and off leash and quickly learned sit, “high five”, and speak. When Bungee is not lazily laying around the house, he loves to go hiking and play fetch, so it would be great for him to find a home that is active. Bungee is such a sweet boy and would make a great addition to any family!

Meet Willow! We believe that Willow is around a year and a half old. Willow had a litter of babies about 3 months ago, but now Willow is the only one left and she finally has her girlish figure back! Willow loves to run and play with all her doggy friends, but also loves relaxing in her bed with a bone (or 5 bones- she’s a toy hoarder!). Willow is very affectionate and loves giving kisses. She is currently learning not to jump, but has already mastered “sit”, “wait”, “crate” and potty training. She loves relaxing in her crate and normally sleeps there during the night and when her foster parents are not home. Willow has never shown a sign of aggression to a human or towards another dog. If you want a very athletic doggy friend to join your family, ask to meet Willow!

COURTESY POST.  Bandit is staying with his family for the time being since we are completely overloaded with kittens!  Bandit is a 6 year old declawed male Himilayan (possibly Ragdoll) mix.  He is super sweet and loves to cuddle.  We aren’t sure how he gets along with other animals, but we will find out soon as he will be coming to an adoption event at the Macon Petsmart this Sunday (7/24/11) if you’d like to meet him!  Bandit is a laid-back, quiet guy and would prefer a quieter home with no small children – the child in his current home scares him.  He bonds pretty quickly to his humans, and loves to sit next to you and be petted while watching TV.  He is declawed, so he needs an INSIDE ONLY home.  Email rmorris@netcommander.com for more info.

Scooterbug was a 3 week old kitten when I first took him in to rescue. He was bottle fed and spoiled completely rotten, and was adopted at 10 weeks of age. Unfortunately, his adopter had to return him due to circumstances (and no fault of his own). He has adjusted remarkably well for an adult cat returned after two years. He gets along great with other cats, dogs and kids. Scoot is just the best kind of cat – loving and sweet, a bit playful, and goes with the flow in the household. He would do best with another cat or dog (or two or three!) in the household, but could be an only cat if necessary. He likes to sleep in the bed with you, and be careful not to leave change or small items laying around that you might need – he has a habit of picking them up and hiding them under the kitchen rug!
Scooter would prefer to be an inside-only cat. He weighs 12 1/2 lbs.

Pepé is a 2-3 year old Fox Terrier mix (we think). He has slender legs and a very thin body structure. He is an absolute sweetie that is very mild mannered and calm. He is content laying on a dog bed most of the day and going on a few small walks. Make sure to fit in time for playing fetch with his favorite squeaker toy too.  He gets along great with other dogs, and while he isn’t aggressive to cats he is very interested in them, a little too interested for our comfort.  He is very quiet and rarely barks or makes a peep! Pepé is very smart and bonds quickly to people. Pepé is also very agile and can jump a 6 foot fence with ease, for that reason we are looking for a home with no fence or an apartment. This way he will be leash walked and we can guarantee he won’t jump.

Pepé was found a stray in Gwinnett county. It was very obvious he had been on the streets a while fending for himself. We also noticed with the recent summer storms thunder and loud noises make his rather nervous, but the longer he is with us the better he has gotten. Is it just taking some adjusting for him to know people are there to care for him.

Jasmine is a sweet lionhead (mix?) bun, though she is a bit shy. She would prefer an adult home, or a home with older children. She likes to get to know you before there’s too much pettin’ and lovin’ going on, so a patient owner is a must. Once she trusts you, though, she’s lots of fun! She’s used to being with another bun, but she isn’t bonded so could be a single bun or possibly a companion for another bun. She is litter trained, too! 

 Our rabbits are fostered inside, are fed a high quality pellet plus lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and are introduced to litter training. Adults are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Since babies must be six months old to be spayed or neutered, they may be adopted prior to their surgery, but adopters will be required to sign a spay/neuter agreement and have the surgery done when they are no older than 7 months old. The adoption fee for rabbits is $45.00, which covers the surgery.

Meet Dennis Hopper! He is a wonderful bun. He is used to being with another bunny, but isn’t bonded with her, so he can be adopted as a companion or as the sole bun. He’s young and fun and does binkies. He puts up with being held, though he’d rather run around and play. He’s pretty big, so he needs a large cage or area to play in. We recommend setting up a dog exercise pen and letting him out for romps daily. He is litter trained and well mannered.

Rolo is a sweet, fun little puppy! She is currently living with several other dogs and loves to play with the other puppies, and enjoys the company of the ‘big kids,’ too. She is a little bit quieter than the other puppies she hangs with, but is very, very sweet. Rolo was originally listed as a Rottweiler mix, but she is anyone’s guess (as is often the case with rescue pups- having strangers offer their guesses is half the fun!!). She will be a medium-sized girl at most. Some guesses we’ve heard: small Dobie mix, shepherd mix, unknown terrier mix, Manchester terrier mix… Any others? Rolo is pretty quiet, happily walks into her crate, and is working diligently on her housebreaking. She is a good little girl who would do fine with other dogs, or as an only pup in the home.

Cassidy is one of a litter of eight. His mom is a mahogany colored lab mix and it looks like his dad imight be a black lab. He is a playful pup and always ready for a cuddle. He will be available for adoption on 5/19.

Micha and Tiger have lost their life-long home and are looking for their forever home. They are both declawed and must be inside only. They are very bonded and need to stay together. The adoption fee for both is $125.00. Micha is 11 years old and is a torti-point Siamese, and Tiger is a 6 year old classic red tabby bobtail. They are both adorable and very loving. They are just a little bit shy and would be happiest in a quieter home with no small children. They get along fine with other cats and would probably adjust to being around dogs.

Blaine is about two and a half years old and is a very affectionate, good natured cat. He adores people, other cats and dogs and loves kids. He takes great care of the foster kittens in his foster home, giving them baths and playing with them. He always seems to have his arms wrapped around another cat. he also adores people and likes to sleep on his foster mom’s chest – which can sometimes be a problem because he’s a little bit heavy! Blaine has had a cold since he was a kitten that he can’t seem to shake. We think he might be able to clear up if he were in a home where there wasn’t another cronicly ill cat (his foster mom’s cat Singlewide also has a cold nearly all the time). If you’re willing to help get this sweet boy well, we would provide medicine and vitamins, which in addition to a fresh environment will likely help him get rid of this cold. Abby is a courtesy listing for an animal clinic and volunteer. Please contact the parties below with questions and not the organization itself. Abby was abandoned at a clinic (Animal Care Hospital), as a one year old puppy. After spending a year in a kennel and/or run and little interaction with other dogs, one of our clients, who is in rescue, heard about her and decided to take Abby home for some R&R. She is now living with 5 other dogs aging between 1 and 14 years old, along with a 2 year old toddler. She loves to play with the younger dogs, but respects the space of the older dogs. Abby is also very good with the toddler. Abby has lots of energy for running and playing, but could just as easily be a couch potato. She is a sweet girl and needs a “furever” home of her own.

City Dog Seeks Country Life

Bo is a fox hound mix and is about 5 years old. He has been with his foster parents for over a year and is ready for his forever country home. Bo is trained and very good with other dogs, children, cats and horses.

Bo needs a country home due to his fence jumping skills. He loves to explore and is not suited for urban life due to his curiosity. He always comes home after 20 minutes of running squirrels and chipmunks. He has killed rabbits and possums in my backyard and would make a great farm dog for keeping the pests out of the garden.

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun Bo is, he loves Frisbees and fetching, watching tv and laying in your lap. He just needs a safe large country home to look after.

This beautiful girl is at Lakeside Veterinary Clinic in Milledgevile, Georgia. She is a shy girl and does not do well at adoption events, so she is g out at the vet’s office waiting for her forever home. LaFlame is a flame point Himilayan. She is shy and would do best in a quiet home with either no other animals or low-key pets and no small children. She will likely hide for the first week or so, but once she feels comfortable she will be happy to keep a spot on the couch warm for you while you are away at work! LaFlame is gorgeous and has had all her vetting done. She does have one “weepy” eye that runs a bit and will need to be wiped every now and then, but it isn’t anything that needs medicine or is contagious to other cats.

This gives you a glimpse of how beautiful Carter (aka Pepe) is!Pepe is a gorgeous long hair – possibly Maine Coon – and his personality is just as fabulous. He is a real sweetie pie. He will lay on his back and reach out his paw for you to pet him. He likes other cats and does okay with dogs, too. He would be fine with kids, but he’s a quiet cat so maybe older kids?

Wilson is a very odd cat. His mom sadly had to give him up due to severe illness, and he’s still sad about that. Wilson talks a LOT – you never have to worry about whether there’s food in the cat bow or not, because if there ain’t, Wilson will definitely let you know! He is a little shy around people, but we think he would do a lot better in a quieter home where there aren’t so many other cats around. He will co-exist with other cats, but he doesn’t like to hang out with them. Only one cat has ever managed to make friends with Wilson, and that is Palmer (check out this special cat’s bio as well!). Wilson would rather just kind of hang around than mingle. He is a worry wart, and will pull his hair out when he gets stressed. At one point he was nearly hairless from the top of his belly to the tip of his tail! He also has a flea allergy, so he has to have his flea treatment right on time every month or he will get sores. I know this is a lot to ask of a new home, but Wilson deserves a chance.

Meet Ugly Betty, affectionately named that because of her, um, “different” appearance. She’s a tortie, but is mostly black with orange randomly sprinkled in. Unfortunately, it isn’t really her appearance that keeps her from getting adopted. Though she’s been in foster care and had constant contact with people since she was three weeks old, she is still very skittish around people, and will only allow you to pet her once you are “approved”, and then only fleetingly. It was a year before she started sleeping on the bed with her foster parents, and she does get more affectionate when the house is dark and quiet. Now she jumps on the bed and head-butts her foster mom nearly every night. She is also known as “Wrap-Around” Betty, because when she rubs against you, she throws her whole body into it and you often have a tail in your face.

We know Betty isn’t the most adoptable cat, but she really deserves a chance to have a home of her own, where there aren’t so many other foster cats and so much change going on around her. Aspen was found in the woods at 4 weeks old, scrawny and near death, with a raging eye infection. We were able to bring her back to health with lots of love and good food, but her right eye will always be smaller and have very limited vision. There’s no reason to remove the eye, so it’s just a physical trait she will always have. It doesn’t bother her one little bit though! She is very spunky and loves to play. She adores other cats, dogs and kids, and would be great in just about any home that has some time each day to play with her – she loves the laser light!

Lana is a very sweet 8 year old cat. She doesn’t really like other cats, but she will co-exist with them. She doesn’t mind dogs, either. She is an extremely affectionate cat. When I first brought her home, I showed her the litterbox, food and water, and went to lay down because it had been a long day. I was shocked when, 3 minutes later, she jumped on the bed and snuggled with me. I had just met her, and she had lived for several years with her previous owner, yet she adjusted to life in a new home almost immediately.

Helena is a very sweet cat. She’s about 1 1/2 years old and is very laid back. She is okay with living with other cats and dogs, though she isn’t thrilled with them.
