Dog- Bogart

Name: Bogart
Age: 3 Months (as of August 20th)
Breed: Boxer Mix
Gender: Male

Bogart has known a lot of physical trauma in his short life. He was found in a ditch by Athens-Clarke County Animal Control officers after being hit by a car. As you can see in his pictures, his right foreleg dangled and had sores from being rubbed against hard ground. The trauma of being struck by a car severed all the nerves in his shoulder causing his leg to be useless. Shortly after we rescued him, we had to amputate his arm. But if you ask Bogart, nothing is wrong at all! He is by far one of the happiest puppies we’ve ever met and it’s quite inspiring to be around him. He keeps up with all of the other dogs and will run around like a puppy should. Even though he is not all Boxer, he is 100% Boxer personality! He loves playing with other dogs ranging from his size to about 75lbs (his best friend happens to be Sullivan, another COFAS foster). After some hard playing, he loves to cuddle up to his person and will nap for hours. Because he was still young during the amputation, the vet does not predict any other problems to arise in the future. That being said, there is a chance he could develop arthritis or have to be kept on supplements for the rest of his life. Bogart is an amazing little boy who deserves to live out a great life after everything he’s been through. If you think you can provide him that home, send in your application today!

Dog- Lily

Name: Lily
Age: 2 Years (as of September 2010)
Breed: Smooth Collie/Lab Mix
Gender: Female

I can’t say enough good things about Lily. She was picked up as a stray at Gwinnett County Animal Control, but it’s obvious she has lived with a family before. She came to us completely housetrained (she even waits by the door when she needs to go out!) and already knows basic commands. This girl is an absolute lovebug, and has never met a dog or person she didn’t like. When she met a baby at the dog park, she walked right up to the stroller and gently licked the baby’s arm- so adorable. She is great in her crate and doesn’t chew on anything she isn’t supposed to. She walks great on leash and has plenty of energy, but also settles down easily and is just as content cuddling with one of her foster moms on the couch. Lily would make an amazing pet for just about any lifestyle, and will be sure make one lucky family very happy!

Dog- Charleigh

  • Name: Charleigh
  • Age: 1-2 years
  • Breed: Poodle mix
  • Gender: Female

Charleigh was found at Grayson High School by a nice family who just had to help her. They took her in their home, gave her some love and a grooming session and out came a very cute unique looking poodle mix. She has a wonderful smile and personality for just being rescued. Plus she has the most interesting color pattern we have seen in some time. Her coat is marbled with champagne and silver colors. We believe Charleigh to be 1-2 years old. She is being fixed this week and will be UTD on vaccines before adoption. Charleigh is crate trained. She is very sweet and gentle; her very first time at adoptions a woman picked her up to give some love to a child with special needs, all she did was wag her tail and give gentle kisses. Can’t you just see her on your lap while you are watching your favorite TV shows?

Dog- Buddy

  • Name: Buddy
  • Age:18 months
  • Breed: Pointer/Hound
  • Gender: Male

Meet Buddy, an 18-month old Pointer/hound mix. Buddy is a sweet, fun and loving pup. He loves playing with toys and is great with children and other dogs, both big and small. He is housetrained and crate trained and very well behaved. Buddy was found walking along a road, but when he came in to his foster parent’s home, he joined his foster friend Sadie on the bed to sleep and has been a cuddler ever since. For more information on Buddy, please call his foster mom Jenny at 706-652-2228.

Dog- Sullivan

Name: Sullivan
Age: 10 Months (as of August 2010)
Breed: English Labrador Mix
Gender: Male

There’s nothing deceiving about his pictures – Sullivan’s head really is that big! He was picked up as a stray at a trailer park by Walton County Animal Control and quickly became the staff favorite because of his doofy and sweet personality. We named him after the Sullivan in the movie “Monsters Inc.” and it’s because he weighs 70lbs at only ten months! He gets along great with dogs of all sizes (his playmates range from 55lbs to 2lbs) and is curious of cats but only from a distance. Sullivan thinks he’s only about 5lbs and likes to run underneath tables and other dogs while playing and is a big baby at heart. He loves being in his crate and is now potty trained on a consistent routine. Sully would make a great family dog as he loves just being doted on and thinks he actually can sleep in your lap. If you’re looking for that goofy Lab, contact us today for more information about this big sweetheart!

Dog- Colby

Name: Colby
Age: 11 Months (as of August 2010)
Breed: Australian Shepherd
Gender: Male

Colby is a young athletic Australian shepherd mix. He weighs around 40 pounds and is a gorgeous blue merle color. We pulled him from Habersham County Animal Control on his very last day he had there. He was soon thereafter diagnosed with canine influenza and took almost a month to recover from it. He is healthy now and looking for a new home. He loves to chase toys and cuddle on the couch. He gets along with other dogs and loves playing with them. He knows basic commands and he is potty and crate trained. He would make a fantastic agility or fly ball dog, but would also make a great family pet.

Dog- Petey

  • Name: Petey
  • Age:1-2 years
  • Breed: Pit mix
  • Gender: Male

Meet Petey, a young tan pit mix who is a wonderful example of the breed. Petey gets along great with other dogs, big and small, and he is fine with cats as well. Petey has been around a large breed male dog, a female pug, and numerous cats. He is housetrained and crate trained and very behaved. He needs a little work on his manners in the jumping department, but is responding very well to positive training and is very motivated by attention, food and toys. Petey loves kids and would be a wonderful family dog. Though Petey is a house dog, he is also a great stranger deterrent – he’s always the first dog to bark and run to the door when he hears a noise. Though we aren’t sure where Petey came from, he is extremely comfortable in the house – he came right in to his foster home and jumped on the bed to snuggle. This may be a hard habit to break, so if you have a “no pets on furniture rule” just know that you’ll need to work with him on this. Petey is such a good boy – email about him today! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNBfq1azkFU

** Petey was rescued by Furkids (www.furkids.org) and if interested in adopting, you should follow the link to their website and fill out an application.

Cat- Sarah

  • Name: Sarah
  • Age: 6 months (as of 08/2010)
  • Breed: Domestic Medium Hair
  • Gender: Female

Sarah came to us from a woman who helped place a litter of kitten and she was the last one. She is now about 6 months old (Aug 2010) and is ready to start a life in her new home. She is very sweet and adjusted very easy to her new foster home. She is doing great with the other cats and so far is fine with small dogs. She seems to be a very well adjusted sweet girl.

Dog- Scooter

  • Name: Scooter
  • Age: 1-1/2 years (as of 8/2010)
  • Breed: Chihuahua
  • Gender: Male

Scooter is brand new to our rescue. He was left abandoned in a rental home and found his way into rescue with COFAS. He is very young, probably around 1 to 1 1/2 years old. He will be going for his vet visit soon and will be neutered, hw tested and get all vaccinations. Scooter is very sweet, though he takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people (as in, a day, not weeks!). He has a typical Chi personality in that respect. :) We are working on his housetraining (his neuter should really help with that) and crate training. Right now, we think he may be best in a home without small children (under 9), but that may change as we get to know his true personality. Ask about Scooter today! We will update as we get to know this sweet boy.

  • Name: Gizmo
  • Age: 6 years
  • Breed: Shih Tzu
  • Gender: Male

Meet Gizmo, a very sweet Shih Tzu boy. He is 6 years old. Gizmo spent his last few months outside and was extremely matted, so he was shaved and boy does he feel so much better! His hair will grow back in nicely and we’re looking for someone who will make sure he gets regular grooming to keep it nice and shiny. Gizmo was housetrained prior to being put outside, though he needs a little refresher course. The neuter should help speed this along. Unfortunately he was extremely high positive for heartworms, so he has gone through the treatment and will be ready for adoption after his crate rest is over, on September 4. We would love to have his new home waiting for him! He gets along great with other dogs and he loves cats. He can be a bit grumpy (though he hasn’t snapped or bitten) so should go to a home with older (9 and up) children.

Cat- Molly

  • Name: Molly
  • Age: 1-2 years
  • Breed: DSH
  • Gender: Female

Molly is a very lucky kitty. She was rescued and the very next day went into labor and had complications requiring an emergency room visit and one of the kittens died. If she had not been rescued she would have died a very painful death. Now she is healthy and ready for her new home. She gets along well with other cats, loves to play with strings and toys, and look out the window. She is very petite girl at maybe 8-9 lbs. We believe she is around 1-2 years old. She is very affectionate, vocal, and sweet. She still has some trust issues with new people, so her new home would need to be understanding and patient and let her open up on her terms. You can see in her video that she is very playful and loving. She even makes biscuits on her foster mom’s back. With love and affection she will make a great addition to a cat loving home.

Dog- Champ

  • Name: Champ
  • Age: 1-2 years (as of 08/2010)
  • Breed: Pit mix
  • Gender: Male

Champ is a 1-2 year old pit bull mix. He is chocolate colored and a great size around 50 lbs (most of that muscle). He was rescued from Athens Animal Control after being found as a stray. He is doing great on crate training. Currently he lives in a house with another dog and they get along wonderful, if anything he is the more relaxed and calm dog of the two. As with all pit bulls, we are looking for a responsible and well-informed owner to adopt Champ. He is very smart and will need direction and proper training from his owner. He really is a love without a mean bone in his body. He already knows how to sit and shake (learned it in 5 minutes). He is well on his way to being 100% potty trained and he is gaining some weight to get back to a healthy weight. Did we mention he is also good with kids? He would make a great running/biking partner if trained. E-mail us at adoptions@cofas.org for more information or to set up a meeting. All our ‘bully breeds’ require a home visit before final adoption.

Dog- Willow

  • Name: Willow
  • Age: around 1 year
  • Breed: Retriever mix
  • Gender: Female

Willow is a very sweet girl. She was dumped at a vet office when her skin condition required medical attention to be cured. Willow was almost completely bald from demodectic mange and the vet didn’t have the heart to euthanize such a sweetheart for a common, treatable condition. The vet gave her treatment dips and all of her fur has returned, thick and soft. She is quite the cutie now, and loves people and other dogs. At first Willow was nervous and had lots of energy in her foster home, but with simply a regular routine and some stability she has become a wonderful little dog. She loves her crate and will happily trot inside and curl up for a nap. Willow is likely a retriever mix of sorts and weighs about 30lbs. She is the perfect size for just about any home and would do wonderfully with a family of her own.

Dog- Shiloh

  • Name: Shiloh
  • Age: 10 months (as of 8/2010)
  • Breed: Retriever mix
  • Gender: Male

Shiloh is a fun-loving, medium-sized retriever mix. He is smaller than a Golden, weighing about 30lbs. Shiloh came to us from his owner who could no longer care for him. Shiloh arrived to COFAS extremely nervous, with a high energy level and no knowledge of how to release that nervous energy. He has begun to calm down and act more like a normal dog, but he will definitely need to go to a home willing to give him lots of daily exercise. Shiloh is still a puppy at under a year old, so he will likely calm down with age and maturity, too. Shiloh loves people and needs a calming, quiet owner to act as a leader for him. With a proper household and stable routine, Shiloh will become more comfortable, and with regular exercise he will become a calmer companion, too. If you’re looking for a running buddy and affectionate friend, ask about meeting Shiloh today!

Dog- Tilly

  • Name: Tilly
  • Age: 3 years old
  • Breed: Chihuahua
  • Gender: Female

Tilly is a cute tan and white Chihuahua. She is about 9lbs. Tilly was listed as ‘rescue only’ while in animal control because she was unsure of her surroundings. Tilly can be suspicious of new people, especially when they try to get too close and don’t respect her body language. However, once she is given some time to sniff and check people out on her own terms, she comes around very quickly!! Tilly is most comfortable with women but her main caretaker is a man- after only a few feeding times and some affection given, she has become his #1 Fan! Tilly does fine with other dogs, and is likely housebroken. She will do best in a house with children old enough to respect her personal space and not play too roughly.

Dog- Wesley

  • Name: Wesley
  • Age: 4-5 months (as of 8/2010)
  • Breed: Labrador mix
  • Gender: Male

Wesley was pulled from an area animal control along with his brother, Giles. Wesley is stockier than his brother, but they are very similar in appearance and personality. Giles and Wesley are Labrador mixes who retain many of the best features of Labs. They are friendly, affectionate, good-natured people-pleasers. Wesley and his brother do very well with other dogs, too. They look and act like twins but do not beed to be placed together. These two are crate-trained and are working on their housebreaking. They are only 4-5 months old and are very, very leggy with oversized paws; we believe they will eaily become large dogs once full-grown. If you’re looking for a big dog to fill the house with love and laughter, look no further than these sweethearts!

Dog- Giles

  • Name: Giles
  • Age: 4-5 months (as of 8/2010)
  • Breed: Labrador mix
  • Gender: Male

Giles was pulled from an area animal control along with his brother, Wesley. Giles is taller and narrower than his brother, but they are very similar in appearance and personality. Giles and Wesley are Labrador mixes who retain many of the best features of Labs. They are friendly, affectionate, good-natured people-pleasers. Giles and Wesley do very well with other dogs, too. They may look and act like twins but certainly do not need to be placed together. These two are crate-trained and are working on their housebreaking. They are only 4-5 months old and are very, very leggy with oversized paws; we believe they will eaily become large dogs once full-grown. If you’re looking for a big dog to fill the house with love and laughter, look no further than these sweethearts!

Dog- Winston

  • Name: Winston
  • Age: 5 years
  • Breed: Maltese mix
  • Gender: Male

Winston is one bundle of cuteness! Weighing in at a whopping 6 lbs, this little love muffin looks like a teddy bear. He is great with people and does well with other dogs, too. He came to us from an area animal control. The officers had to completely shave his coat because of mats and filth and he feels much better now (even if he looks a bit like a Q-Tip at the moment!). Winston had a yeast infection in his ear and is being treated for that, too. He will need to go to a home aware of his grooming requirements and willing to spend the time and/or money to see that he stays comfortable and healthy. Winston is the perfect size for a lap dog but enjoys playing with toys, too.  He is crate trained and does well indoors. As a small breed dog at five years old, he is past his wild puppy days and still has many, many loving years ahead of him. Will he spend them with you?

Dog- Juno

Name: Juno
Age: 1 Year (as of July 2010)
Breed: Blue Heeler
Weight: 21lbs
Gender: Female

Juno is a tiny Blue Heeler. She was rescued from an animal control that is in deplorable shape. Her fur felt unreal and would literally crumble in your hands. Her skin was also in terrible shape and smelled like death. I was worried she had mange, but all checked out well and it was caused by a flea allergy. She still has one patch of fur missing on her back, but looks and feels much better. In a month or so, her fur will look and feel as it should. Juno is an incredible little dog. I was worried she wouldn’t do well in my home since Heelers are notorious for needing to be in a one dog only home. They are known to nip and herd dogs inside their household because they want to be in control. Heelers will also herd the family if they aren’t properly exercised or given a job. Juno might be the black sheep of Heelers, but in a good way. I’ve only had her for 3 weeks, but in this time I haven’t seen the typical (annoying) Heeler characteristics come out of her. This could be because my pack doesn’t do anything to make the herding come out, but she and Owen are best friends. They love wrestling and she is gentle with him. Her only job is to chew a large bone when she is bored. When Juno hears a squeaky toy she becomes ecstatic and will jump high into the air. She has so much potential to play fetch or Frisbee, she just needs to be trained to do so. It was obviously Juno had never been swimming until I took her to my pond. She was hesitant at first, but when she saw all the dogs swimming around she decided to join them. Once she figured out how to stay afloat she never went back to shore. Juno is very loyal and listens well to corrections. She enjoys cuddling up with me anytime I allow it. She knows I’m the boss, and I want to keep a close eye on any bad Heeler characteristics from emerging. Potty training is going well, but I don’t think she is 100% trained. She is also great in her crate. Juno needs an active family that will exercise her, give her a job, or does some sort of fun activity like agility with her. She needs to continue being socialized with other dogs since she adores them, and this trait can be rare in Heelers.

Dog- Owen

Name: Owen
Age: 1 Year (as of July 2010)
Breed: Blue Heeler/Rat Terrier Mix
Weight: 15lbs
Gender: Male

Once you interact with Owen you will not be able to let him go. I can’t help calling him “Little Owen” because of his tiny stature. Owen and his brother, Picasso, were found in the most appalling animal control I’ve ever seen. They had been there for over a week and their time was completely up in an overcrowded pound. These little guys would have been adopted in a heartbeat if they were at the Athens pound, but Stephens County Animal Control only has 1-2 adoptions a month! We were lucky enough to save them on their last day. Owen didn’t trust me the first few days, but now he is my little shadow. He is very submissive and shy at times, but when you gain his trust he is fearless. He came to me knowing no tricks or basic obedience, but he is picking up commands quickly. Potty training is going very well, and I haven’t noticed any recent mistakes. He is wonderful in the crate and doesn’t make a peep. Owen is in love with all dogs. He wants to play, play, and play some more. Sometimes they bully him around since he is so small and submissive, but that doesn’t stop him from having a blast. My favorite discovery of Little Owen is that he loves to swim and ride around on my paddle boat with me. He enjoys being the captain and will stand at the end of the boat to see where we are headed. He also likes a game of fetch…but his legs are short and he is a little slower than the rest of the gang, so he doesn’t get the chance to retrieve the ball as much as he wishes. He never gives up and will always attempt to get the ball. Whenever I’m relaxing, Owen will give me thousands of kisses, and then he will snuggle up on my chest or my side and lay like a baby. It’s probably the cuties thing you will ever see. As you can see, Owen is an amazing dog. I would love to see him go to a active family that doesn’t only see him as being a lap dog, and that will allow him to run, fetch, and swim.

Dog- Captain

Name: Captain
Age: 1 Year (as of June 2010)
Breed: Golden Retriever Mix
Gender: Male

Captain, as you can see, is an extremely handsome boy! He was pulled from Walton County Animal Control, where he was listed as “not nice” because of how scared he was when he was brought in. However, he had simply been neglected, and has never shown his teeth to anybody, even when he has been extremely uncomfortable. He is an exceptionally loyal and loving dog once he becomes comfortable in the home. So far, Captain continues to come a little bit out of his shell every day! He is just now beginning to let strangers pet him, especially if there are other dogs around: he LOVES other dogs, and seems much happier when around them. He lives with two foster siblings, and also takes many trips a week to the dog park, and has never had a single problem getting along with others. Captain is still extremely wary of people, and so training is difficult – he has just now begun to even take treats from his foster mom’s hand. However, he responds very well to corrections both vocally and on the leash. He has never had a single accident, even when left alone for an entire workday, and although he loves his crate (it is a sort of safe zone for him), he is perfectly behaved when left out. When his foster mom comes home, he greets her with a wildly wagging tail that spins around like a helicopter, and a little doggy grin. We sincerely hope that someone can look past his initial fears and see the amazing dog he will be with a little work and continuous socialization, and offer this boy the pampered life he deserves!

Dog- Noah

Name: Noah
Age: 1 Year
Breed: Border Collie Mix
Gender: Male

Noah is a one-year-old border collie who was pulled from Walton Animal Control after spending about two weeks there. He was a staff favorite there. Noah at the shelter was very shy and nervous. He is still very skittish around new people though he is starting to come out of his shell with the more time he spends around strangers. He has never shown any aggression with strangers he would just prefer to avoid them. He simply needs a confidence boost. However once he gets to know you he LOVES you. He is completely attached to his foster mom, wanting to play whenever he gets the chance. Sometimes he gets so excited about it he just bounces in place. Noah is much more outgoing when it comes to other dogs. He absolutely adores other dogs and loves to play. He is still very much a puppy at heart with the funniest antics. Noah is working on his basic obedience and being such a smart breed he should catch on quickly. If introduced properly and given enough time Noah would probably do well with children. He might be very nervous at first but eventually would probably love playing with them. Noah is an amazing dog who loves life.

Dog- Mateo

Name: Mateo
Age: 7 Months (as of July 2010)
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Gender: Male

All we have to say is that Pits rock! :) For those that are skeptical about the breed, Mateo is a shining example of what great companions Pits can make. He was surrendered with five siblings to Athens-Clarke County Animal Control after his owner was arrested. The dogs were used to protect a stash of drugs inside a house, so they have lived their short lives in a yard with no proper socialization. Despite this, Mateo is just a beautiful dog – inside and out. He gets along great with animals of all different shapes and sizes and just adores people. He obviously has never been inside a house before (his first trip up the stairs was hilarious) but has yet to have an accident and is currently working on crate training. Mateo loves tennis balls and is very food and toy motivated when it comes to training (high motivation makes for easy training!). He loves his daily trips to the dog park and his walks and will walk well on and off the leash. Mateo has just an amazing foundation built into him. That being said, he is still a puppy and has the energy level and behavior of one. He currently believes that everything in the house is made for him to play and chew on but under supervision, he has no trouble being a good boy. We’ve only had him for a short amount of time and he is already learning how to behave. We are very confident that in no time, his house manners will be refined. He already has the makings to be just an amazing dog and just needs to actually be trained. He is such a happy-go-lucky character and seems to realize that he is now living the good life. Though a foster home is better than no home at all, Mateo would love a forever home to call his own! If you’d be interested in meeting him, shoot us an email!

Cat- Brayden

This kitten is located in the Macon PETSMART and is available for adoption every weekday between 6-7 and weekends 11-4. E-mail cats@cofas.org for information or fill out an application found on our website under Adoption Info and Forms.

Rats- Mona, Serena & Splinter

These three pet rats are available for adoption together or separately. Let us know if you’d like to meet them!!

Splinter (yep, watching TMNT!) is a sweet boy, though he is a little shy until he gets to know you. He is NEUTERED and gets along great with other ratties. His adoption fee is $25 to partially cover the surgery.

Mona was born around March 3, 2010. She is very sweet and gets along great with other ratties. She can be a little bit shy at first but bribes of good food work well! Her adoption fee is $10.00.

SERENA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!

Serena was born around March 3, 2010. She is a sweet girl – very active and nosy! She was the first of her litter to want to explore the cage, and then the outside world. :) She gets along great with other ratties. Her adoption fee is $10.00.

Dog- Dexter

  • Name: Dexter
  • Age: 1-2 years old
  • Breed: Pointer mix
  • Gender: Male

Meet Dexter! Dexter came to us from Gwinnett County animal control. He is a sweet and easy-going pointer mix, between one and two years old and within the 40lb range. He has the cutest expressive ears and a striking coat of black on white. Dexter immediately made himself comfortable in his foster home and became fast friends with the dogs. He wanted to play a little too roughly with the 3lb chihuahua, but was easily corrected. Dexter also has taken to crate training like a pro. While he was in Animal Control, Dex didn’t seek attention from the visitors and huddled in one spot in his run; here at the farm he is much more relaxed and happily checks in with his humans for a few pets or back scratch. He doesn’t demand attention, but enjoys regular exercise and interaction with people and dogs alike.

Dog- Chipper

  • Name: Chipper
  • Age: 10 weeks (as of April 7)
  • Breed: Beagle mix
  • Gender: Male
Chipper came to us on opening day of the Atlanta Braves season. He’s a handsome little guy that looks as though he might be part beagle. Although we do not know how large Chipper will be when full grown, we think he will be a medium size dog. All four of Chipper’s legs and Chipper’s face have brindle markings. Chipper is very playful, and has no hesitation in playing with dogs that are five times his size. He loves curling up under the covers to get a backrub, but isn’t pushy when it comes to getting attention. Chipper will be neutered, up to date on shots, micro-chipped, and ready for adoption at the end of April.

Cat- Puss N Boots

  • Name: Puss N Boots
  • Age: 1 year
  • Breed: DSH mix
  • Gender: Male

Puss N Boots reminds of us of the character in Shrek. He does what he wants on his terms and is super cute doing it. His face is extremely expressive and it leaves you wondering just what he is thinking. Puss has come a long way in the short time we have had him (6 months). He is now playful (loves strings and toys), LOVES his treats, and now lets us pet him for short periods of time. While Puss is unsure sometimes of being touched, he never hides. He is very curious about his surroundings and always wants to be on a chair, bed, shelf, or table. You won’t find him hiding in a dark corner. He was rescued from an abandoned house with 5 other cats.

Dog- Ava

  • Name: Ava
  • Age: 1 year
  • Breed: Plott Hound/ Pit mix
  • Gender: Female

Ava is a very sweet girl. She is insecure with other dogs, especially smaller insecure ones. Ava has special homing requirements because of her insecurity, but in the right situation (a family that isn’t interested in dog parks or having lots of other canine companions around) she will be a complete joy. She currently lives in a farmhouse with about 13 other dogs, and can be left alone with several of them without incident. We’ve found that she does best with larger dogs that are confident (not insecure). She also has immense patience with puppies, and allows them to climb all over her. Ava’s had several different friends and playmates come through the house (including the puppies, too). With the dogs that she likes, she is perfect from the beginning and develops a strong bond with them. It really does depend on the energy level and personality of the other dog. Ava may be able to go to a home with another dog, but this would depend on the dog and the owners. In fact, if it is a good match, she would fully enjoy the companionship of another dog in the house, but it isn’t necessary.

Our trainer will work with her adoptive family to make sure the transition goes well and to ensure she fits into the home. He has been working on her obedience training and she’s learned to respond immediately to commands. Ava is 100% wonderful towards people, and is such a goofball at times. Ava makes a wonderful companion, and is quiet in the house. She has her special chew bone toy and will happily work on that while her person reads or watches TV next to her. Every once in a while, she’ll look up at you, give a happy tail thump (or three), and go back to her bone. Ava also*loves* to slowly walk underneath the hammock while her foster parent is in it, giving herself a nice back rub against the hammock and giving her foster parent an easy push in the process!! She isn’t loud in or out of the house and enjoys quiet time to explore the backyard, too. She would truly make a loving pet and deserves to be given the chance.

Cat- Smudge

  • Name: Smudge
  • Age: 7 months
  • Gender: Female
  • Breed: DSH mix

Smudge is a super sweet kitty who loves to snuggle. She has a very calm and sweet personality and would make a great addition to any family. She is Diamond and Trinity’s sister and we would love them to go together as a sister pair, but understand if you can only take her. She is about 7 months old and was rescued from under a crawl space with her siblings at 8 weeks old.

Cat- Diamond

  • Name: Diamond
  • Age: 7 months
  • Breed: DSH mix
  • Gender: Female

Diamond is a 7 month old kitten. She and her two siblings (Trinity and Smudge) were rescued from a crawl space. They were living with their feral mom, but don’t worry they are very friendly now. Diamond is the smallest of her litter and now is quite the cuddlebug. Diamond is FIV negative and has been spayed.

Cat- Wilson

wilson2

  • Name: Wilson
  • Age: 3 years
  • Breed: Domestic shorthair mix
  • Gender: Male

Wilson is a very odd cat. His mom sadly had to give him up due to severe illness, and he’s still sad about that. Wilson talks a LOT – you never have to worry about whether there’s food in the cat bow or not, because if there ain’t, Wilson will definitely let you know! He is a little shy around people, but we think he would do a lot better in a quieter home where there aren’t so many other cats around. He will co-exist with other cats, but he doesn’t like to hang out with them. Only one cat has ever managed to make friends with Wilson, and that is Palmer (check out this special cat’s bio as well!). Wilson would rather just kind of hang around than mingle. He is a worry wart, and will pull his hair out when he gets stressed. At one point he was nearly hairless from the top of his belly to the tip of his tail! He also has a flea allergy, so he has to have his flea treatment right on time every month or he will get sores. I know this is a lot to ask of a new home, but Wilson deserves a chance.

Cat- Blaine

blaine2

  • Name: Blaine
  • Age: about 1 year
  • Breed: DSH
  • Gender: Male

Blaine is right at a year old (as of 9/09) and is a very affectionate, good natured cat. He adores people, other cats and dogs and loves kids. He takes great care of the foster kittens in his foster home, giving them baths and playing with them. He always seems to have his arms wrapped around another cat. he also adores people and likes to sleep on his foster mom’s chest – which can sometimes be a problem because he’s a little bit heavy! Blaine has had a cold since he was a kitten that he can’t seem to shake. We think he might be able to clear up if he were in a home where there wasn’t another cronicly ill cat (his foster mom’s cat Singlewide also has a cold nearly all the time). If you’re willing to help get this sweet boy well, we would provide medicine and vitamins, which in addition to a fresh environment will likely help him get rid of this cold. If this sounds like something you’re up to, and would like to adopt this amazingly gentle and affectionate cat, email his foster mom – rmorris@netcommander.com

Cat- Ugly Betty

uglybetty

Meet Ugly Betty, affectionately named that because of her, um, “different” appearance. She’s a tortie, but is mostly black with orange randomly sprinkled in. Unfortunately, it isn’t really her appearance that keeps her from getting adopted. Though she’s been in foster care and had constant contact with people since she was three weeks old, she is still very skittish around people, and will only allow you to pet her once you are “approved”, and then only fleetingly. It was a year before she started sleeping on the bed with her foster parents, and she does get more affectionate when the house is dark and quiet. Now she jumps on the bed and head-butts her foster mom nearly every night. She is also known as “Wrap-Around” Betty, because when she rubs against you, she throws her whole body into it and you often have a tail in your face.

We know Betty isn’t the most adoptable cat, but she really deserves a chance to have a home of her own, where there aren’t so many other foster cats and so much change going on around her. She does have a reduced adoption fee. Please ask about Betty – email rmorris@netcommander.com for more information.

Cat- Aspen

aspen

Aspen was found in the woods at 4 weeks old, scrawny and near death, with a raging eye infection. We were able to bring her back to health with lots of love and good food, but her right eye will always be smaller and have very limited vision. There’s no reason to remove the eye, so it’s just a physical trait she will always have. It doesn’t bother her one little bit though! She is very spunky and loves to play. She adores other cats, dogs and kids, and would be great in just about any home that has some time each day to play with her – she loves the laser light!

Cat- Angelique

angeliqueangelique2

Angelique was found as a 5 month old kitten at a hunting camp by a nice couple who brough her to Circle of Friends. She is very sweet, but is pretty shy thanks to her late introduction to the kindness of people. She purrs when you pet her, but she will probably hide for a week or so once she goes to her forever home. At night, when the house is quiet, she gets on the bed and loves to snuggle with her foster mom. She loves other cats and dogs. If you have the patience to give this sweet girl a chance, email her foster mom – rmorris@netcommander.com for more info.

Cat- Lana

lana

Lana is a very sweet 8 year old cat. She doesn’t really like other cats, but she will co-exist with them. She doesn’t mind dogs, either. She is an extremely affectionate cat. When I first brought her home, I showed her the litterbox, food and water, and went to lay down because it had been a long day. I was shocked when, 3 minutes later, she jumped on the bed and snuggled with me. I had just met her, and she had lived for several years with her previous owner, yet she adjusted to life in a new home almost immediately.

Cat- Helena

helena

Helena is a very sweet cat. She’s about 1 1/2 years old and is very laid back. She is okay with living with other cats and dogs, though she isn’t thrilled with them. :P
