Jerry is about 35 pounds and probably 9 yrs old. He is currently boarding at his vets with his old friend Red. He is an active boy and currently anxious and concerned about his situation and his friend. He is a Hurricane Katrina survivor who overcame tremendous odds and was rescued by a wonderful man who is no longer able to live independently in his home. Jerry had been caged in Waveland, MS during the hurricane, and some how survived the storm surge and his abandonment and is very healthy and loving. Jerry is very smart, fast and loyal, although he is very shy. He does not like a lot of noise and would not do well in a home with young children. He is well trained and well behaved. While we would consider placing Jerry separately, he and Red have been lifelong companions and we are hoping for another miracle for them that will allow them to continue to be together. Not yet ready to adopt? You can sponsor a pet now to help pay for medical expenses, special diets, toys and treats, emergency medical care, etc., to provide for him or her during foster care. Our adoption fee rarely covers our expenses, so any size donation is appreciated! ******************************************** All of our dogs are fostered in our homes so we know their temperaments. They are spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, de-wormed, heartworm tested (and treated if necessary), and on flea and heartworm prevention. Our adoption fee begins at $150.00 for all of our dogs and puppies. Our goal is to match our animals to the best home possible. Please email adoptions@cofas.org for more information.
